Elijah dropped his hand and found himself mortified. “I...” he muttered and trailed off. He didn’t know what to say. He could bear to look at him. “I think you should go,” he mumbled.

Thiôn ducked his head. "I'm sorry." He made a hasty exit, leaving the slippers neatly in the hall, his second glass of bourbon untouched, and his jacket still in the closet.

Thiôn thought that it was just typical that it would start to rain just as he started walking down the street. He realised now he'd left his jacket behind, but he was not going back to get it. Not after that abrupt dismissal. He hadn't even had a chance to explain. He sighed as a truck roared past and into a puddle, drenching him. How rom-com was this?

Elijah noticed the rain and decided to call Klaus. The other Nealson picked up after the first ring and the two chatted quietly before it was determined that Klaus would come out that evening.

Thiôn realised after about half an hour that he was lost, cold, and wet, and he just sat down in a doorway to wait out the weather. Hopefully.

A couple hours later, Klaus was walking down the street in the rain to Elijah’s house. He noticed someone passed out in a doorway and walked over. “Hey, mate, wake up,” he said.

Thiôn shook his head. "Really, I'm fine." He thought quickly on his feet. "Forgot my keys, and girlfriend's on her way back." He thumbed the door behind him.

Klaus raised an eyebrow and gave him a once over. "Sure," he said, sarcastically. "And my Unicorn is about to swoop in and stop this rain."

"Not in the slightest," Klaus said. "I lie all the time. I can tell when others do it." He checked the guy over for injuries. "Come along, we'll go get a drink at my brother's," he said. "At least there we can dry off and warm up."
