Ben sent a look to Tom. "Because we want children and we think you two might be the ones for us." Ben said honestly.

Tom looked at Ben, smiling at the way he interacted with the boys. He nodded to show he agreed.

Jonathan blinked in surprise, reaching for his brother's hand. His voice was quieter as he clutched his knees to his chest. "Why?"

David suddenly felt very scared, Jonathan was never quiet.

"Because I like your attitude, how focused you are on taking care of your brother but also to take care of yourself. It's an admirable quality and you should be proud of it." Ben said, making eye contact with Jonathan.

Jonathan bit his lip and blinked up at Ben. "Th- thank you, sir."

Ben sent Jonathan a friendly smile. "Call me Ben. Let's go have a chat." he said before walked over to the boys as held his hands out to help Jonathan down.

Jonathan elbowed David back, frowning sceptically, then huffed and swung down from the monkey bars and landed on the chipped bark below.

David stared at his brother and the man

David waved slightly at Tom.

Jonathan sat on the bench and brought his knees up to his chest.

"So, what do you like to do, David?"

David shrugged. "Hang upside down."

Ben studied the young boy with curiosity.

"Jonathan said my head will fall off if I do it too much." David said.

Jonathan hid behind his knees so only his eyes peeped over.

Tom smiled. "You always listen to Jonathan?"

David nodded. "He's my big brother. He always knows what's best for us."

"You're what, five, six?" Tom asked. "That's a lot of responsibility."

"John says he has to. He says it's his responsibility." David said, shrugging.

"Can Ben and I take care of you?" Tom asked gently.

"I have a big dog. Tom has big cats. They won't hurt you. Tom has them trained." Ben said gently.

David looked at Jonathan before he shrugged.
