Sam stood in the kitchen, putting a sandwich together.

Sam and Liam spent the day catching up and talking about the pregnancy.

Halo returned later and flopped onto the sofa.

Liam chuckled. "Long day?" he asked.

Sam walked over and set a mug of tea down on the coffee table beside Halo.

"At least you're alive." Liam said. "Oh! I have great news."

Sam smiled and started making dinner.

"I'm going to get the surgery." Liam said.

Sam looked up in shock and then cried out in pain as she cut her finger.

Halo rushed to Sam, taking her hand and drawing her pain into him, away from her.

Liam rolled over and inspected the wound. "It's not deep. I'll get the first aid kit." he said and rolled over to the bathroom.

Once he was gone, Sam looked at Halo. "What if the surgery doesn't work?" she asked quietly.

"What if it makes him depressed? What if he-" Sam cut her whispers off as Liam came back into the room.

"Let's see this war wound." he said, half joking and took Sam's hand from Halo.

Halo kept the skin contact to absorb the pain, and looked at Sam. "I don't know," he mumbled.

Liam was so focused on Sam's wound, he didn't hear Halo.

Sam, subconciously, leaned her head against Halo's shoulder.

Once it was all bandaged, Liam smiled. "There we go. You should be more careful, Sam." he said, scolding her playfully.

Sam smiled and nodded.
