Jo stood outside the door and ran off to find Owen.

Ben waited to see what the woman would say.

"Have... " Ms. Roe cleared her throat. "Have you discussed this with her? That is the usual procedure."

Owen yelped as Jo ran into him. "Hey, Jo-Jo. What's up?"

"They want to adopt me..." she said.

"We were just going to do that. We just wanted to let you know." Ben said.

"Hey." Owen knelt down to her level. "That's good, isn't it?"

"Of course it's a good thing!" Jo said from her position on the floor. "I just can't believe it's happening."

Ben smiled politely and got up to go find Joanna.

"Just replay your previous statement to yourself. The older you get, the harder it is. I just have a couple more years; I've been here most of my life, I'm used to it." Owen shrugged.
