Lucas smiled. "Let's not put pressure on the two of us like that. We can eat this dinner as friends and get to know each other." He paused. "What do you do for a living?"

Daniel was taken aback by the question and he heard gasps and 'oohs" in the crowd. "I love Emilie." He said. "Ever since we met, there was a connection you couldn't deny between us. Look at this girl. She could get any guy she wanted, and I'm the lucky one marrying her. I don't know what kind of guy you think I am, Jett, but I'm not a gold digger. The fame means nothing to me. Emilie could be completely broke and I'd still be right there next to her. I love her for who she is, not for what she has."

Lucas smiled. "That's interesting. I'm a columnist at the Chicago Tribune."

Daniel watched the exchanges between the two. The whole purpose he felt was to expose him as a gold digger, and it had failed.
