Meredith raised an eyebrow. "A knitting needle?" she questioned. "How in the world did they manage that?"

"I didn't ask," Derek smiled in amusement. "Patient is fine, though, so all is good." He glanced at his watch. "When does your shift end?"

Grabbing his wrist, she moved slightly closer to him to get a better look at his watch. “Couple more hours,” she said.

Meredith smiled and blushed. “Grey!” she heard and turned. “I’ll see you later,” she told Derek, looking back at him.

Derek grinned and winked. "See you later." With that, he turned his eyes back to things that were strictly, unfortunately, not Meredith.

While it wasn't as exciting as dinner with Meredith promised, the rest of Derek's shift certainly wasn't uneventful. In fact, it was on the verge of making him late to finish.

Derek, unfortunately, couldn't rush a surgery that was going ass up, but he did hurry through wash-up and getting changed, hurrying out into the foyer with the hope that Meredith hadn't gone.

After a few minutes' searching, Derek found her, and crouched beside her, a small smile playing over his lips. He gently shook her shoulder. "Hey, Meredith," he murmured.
